A Journey of Self Discovery

Everyday I am reminded that we are responsible for what happens to us as we are travelling down the road of life we have to take that responsibility seriously. It takes an extremely strong person to admit who they really are on the inside, to people on the outside. I try my hardest to be as real as possible in all situations, but even I will admit that I have used my acting talents to get out of some sticky situations.

If You've Ever Seen Dr. Phil...

I have recently discovered that I am suffering from "ENS" or "Empty Nest Syndrome", which in itself is not the real problem. The problem is that my son has not yet moved out of the house. I think that I have anticipated the feelings that most parents have when their kids grow up and go off to college or get married. I am glad that this stage of my life has come upon me prematurely. This gives me the chance to make a life change before the day of impending doom, when my only child leaves home.

I have decided that it is time to take my life into my own hands. I have never really been the confident person that I have tried to show to people. Most of my confidence came from artificial means. I have always seen myself as far less than acceptable and recently decided that I can no longer live my life in such a state of mental despair.

I have decided that I need to recreate my life from the inside out in order to be truly happy with life. I need to refocus my energies into something that is a little more self-involved. The problem is that I do not know how to put myself first. I have spent my entire life worrying about the happiness of others that I have forgotten how to take care of my own needs.

Well I knew that I would have to start making myself my #1 priority, and I also knew that I would not be able to do that without some serious assistance from someone who really knew what they were talking about.

I think that there are a bunch of people out there who have designed "self-help" programs only to help themselves. These people create negativity and skepticism.

Once in a while, however, a genuinely caring person comes along with a really great plan that will honestly help people put their lives back on track. I think that Dr. Phil McGraw is just one of those caring people. I think Dr. Phil has incredible insight into the human condition and the human mind.

I have just purchased Dr. Phil's book entitled "Self-Matters". I have just reached the end of the first chapter and as I expected, Dr. Phil is laying it on the line. He has made it clear that the book is going to tell us things that I may not want to hear but I have to hear in order to move my life into a more secure position.

So heres's to Dr. Phil and his years of success as a doctor of the mind.
